Benefits for Families (p. 4) |
Babies in the Workplace |
Better Financial Stability |
Many families experience a "poverty spell" after the birth of a baby,
generally due to a parent taking extended, unpaid parental leave to avoid putting
a tiny, helpless baby in daycare. A baby program provides parents with
the opportunity to stay with their babies while still receiving a regular paycheck,
which is a huge benefit. A baby program also lowers the likelihood
that a parent will feel compelled to quit his or her job completely rather than
separate from a several-week-old baby, and a program makes it easier for the
parent to transition back to work after having a baby. Enabling parents
to find ways to stay at jobs they enjoy while still staying with their babies means
better long-term financial stability for families. |
Socialized and Happier Babies |
Babies love social interaction and learning from other people.
Babies in structured workplace programs tend to be very content because they have
lots of social interaction with coworkers and have lots of people to interact
with and learn from, which satisfies their needs for social and intellectual
stimulation. |
