Benefits for Families (p. 3) |
Babies in the Workplace |
They also enable better health for babies as a result of the extensive
immune system benefits from nursing, as well as benefits for mothers in terms
of lower risks of several major diseases, a quicker return to pre-pregnancy weight,
and easier bonding. |
Easier Bonding |
Being able to bring their babies to work provides an invaluable opportunity
for parents and babies to form a strong bond in those critical first several
months of life. A healthy attachment between parent and baby is integral
to long-term psychological (and often physical) health, and babies-at-work
programs enable parents and babies to delay separation and thus more easily form
a healthy bond. |
Lower Day Care Costs |
Day care for babies is often extremely expensive, and high-quality care
is especially expensive (and often difficult to find). In addition, there
are often waiting lists for infant day care slots. Being able to bring
their babies to work means much lower day care costs for parents in those early
months of life. |
