Maria Rodriguez of Vanguard Communications said that when an employee chooses to have their baby go to day care instead of bringing the baby to work, they get questions from other employees about it. She said that:

Employees want the baby to be there. They
love having a baby around. Usually folks
are chomping at the bit to take care of the
baby while [her parent goes] to a meeting.

Bridge the Gap Between Parents and Non-Parents

Babies in the workplace can help non-parents and parents to be able to relate to each other more easily.  Gay Gaddis, CEO of T3, explained that having babies in the workplace

has created an understanding for people
who don't have kids about how hard it can
be to be a parent. People appreciate each
other more.  Some people don't ever get
exposed to parents and babies; it helps
   coworkers to understand each other's
perspective and what they have to deal with.

She explained that one of her reasons for allowing babies to come to work at T3 is that she

looks at life in this business as a family on a
farm.  You know the saying "it takes a village
to raise a child"; our ancestors were doing
this in a different way.  They were working,
someone had the baby, someone got the
hay in, someone milked the cows, and
   people tossed the kids between
themselves.  Here, it takes an agency to
raise a child.  We help people get through
   different phases in their lives.
