   Sally Rynne found that as clients found out about the baby program at Health Newsletters, a lot of them said to her, "I wish I could work for your company."
At the Kansas Insurance Department, they have found that the baby program is very useful for "
attracting quality workers."  As Deann Tiede explained:

   We're a state government agency.  The
   compensation package may not always be 
   the most attractive.  To be competitive, we
   have to be a bit creative in creating
   incentives for getting people to want to work
   here.  Those incentives may not come
   through base salary.


   This was a motivation for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners as well.  The NAIC President, Cathy Weatherford, explained that when she:

   came to the NAIC, we started talking about
   how we could  improve the quality of the
   workplace.  As a non-profit, we don't have
   the ability to play on a level playing field with
   corporations on pay.  We strive for the
   highest quality of life in the workplace that
   we could come up with in order to compete.

and Cooperation

   Looking for an inexpensive way to enhance cooperation and teamwork at your business?  Start a baby program.  All the companies reported that having babies at work seemed to bring out the maternal and paternal instinct, and cooperative effort, in nearly everyone.  Whenever a mom or dad was too engaged with a customer or other urgent matter to tend to a fussy baby, there was never a shortage of coworkers eager to help.  Carolyn Gable noted that, "
